Our client is seeking a Site Engineer (Shift Engineer) to support delivery on a major tunnel project in Coffs Harbour, NSW. This is a short-term 3-month contract offering accommodation and exposure to large-scale tunnelling works.

This role will place you at the core of tunnel construction, focusing on shift-based supervision, coordination, and safety. Candidates with waterproofing and lining experience will be highly regarded, though this is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily tunnel construction activities during allocated shifts

  • Support site supervision and ensure works align with engineering plans

  • Coordinate subcontractors, labour, and plant during tunnelling works

  • Monitor quality, safety, and environmental standards on-site

  • Maintain accurate shift records, reports, and documentation

  • Provide technical support to site teams and liaise with project engineers

  • Contribute to smooth delivery of waterproofing and lining phases (if applicable)

Requirements

  • Previous experience working on tunnel or underground projects

  • 2–4 years of civil construction or site engineering experience

  • Ability to work shift patterns, including some night shifts

  • Strong knowledge of site safety, compliance, and documentation

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Waterproofing and lining experience desirable but not required

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related qualification

  • Full Australian working rights
