We’re seeking an experienced Pre-Contracts Manager to join our client in Sydney. If you have a strong background in tendering, estimating oversight, and leading pre-contracts teams within civil construction and utilities, this is the role for you.

Salary Range: $160,000 – $200,000 + Super (DOE)

Reporting to senior management, you’ll oversee the pre-contracts function, manage a team of estimators, and ensure accurate, efficient, and competitive tendering processes. The role focuses on leadership, mentoring, and process improvements rather than hands-on estimating.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the pre-contracts function across multiple civil construction and utilities projects

• Oversee tendering processes, ensuring high-quality and competitive submissions

• Provide guidance and oversight to the estimating function (not hands-on estimating)

• Implement systems and processes to improve compliance, performance, and consistency

• Collaborate with stakeholders to align pre-contracts strategies with company goals

• Contribute to workforce planning and recruitment for the pre-contracts team

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the civil construction or utilities sector

• At least 5 years in pre-contracts or estimating leadership roles

• Strong tendering and estimating background, with oversight capabilities

• Proven leadership skills, including mentoring and training teams

• Experience in implementing and improving systems and processes

• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
