Job Description

We are seeking a diligent Senior Quantity Surveyor with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join our client’s civil construction team in Sydney. Utilities experience is necessary for the job. In this role, you will oversee accurate cost estimation and project cost management, ensuring efficient use of resources and maximizing profitability. Your expertise in cost planning, contract administration, and procurement will be crucial for the successful execution of civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects, accounting for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Collaborate with project teams and engineers to assess project requirements and create cost plans.
  • Oversee construction contracts, including reviewing and interpreting contractual terms and conditions.
  • Prepare and evaluate tender documents, contract specifications, and pricing schedules.
  • Work with procurement teams to source materials, equipment, and subcontractor services at competitive prices without compromising quality.
  • Assess subcontractor and supplier quotations, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely procurement of necessary resources.
  • Monitor project expenditures, track costs against budgets, and implement measures to control and reduce cost overruns.
  • Provide accurate and timely cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections to stakeholders.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential cost impacts.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to provide cost-related advice and ensure effective communication.
  • Prepare and present cost reports.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Additional certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor on civil construction projects.
  • Utilities experiences is required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction cost estimation and contract administration.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
