Senior Project Engineer – Water & Sewer Infrastructure | Sydney NSW

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our client’s team in Sydney, delivering major water utilities and sewer infrastructure projects across the region. This role suits a highly capable engineer with strong leadership experience and a proven background in complex water and wastewater construction works.

About the Role

Location: Sydney, New South Wales
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: 140k – 170k, DOE

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of large-scale water and sewer infrastructure projects, working closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and utility stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of water and sewer infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pump stations, treatment assets, and associated civil works

• Manage project programming, resourcing, and sequencing of works

• Oversee subcontractor performance, productivity, and compliance

• Review and manage drawings, specifications, ITPs, and construction methodologies

• Drive QA, safety, and environmental compliance across project sites

• Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies

• Support procurement, cost tracking, forecasting, and commercial reporting

• Prepare progress reports and contribute to client and stakeholder meetings

• Mentor and support Site Engineers and Project Engineers

Requirements

• 7+ years’ experience delivering water utilities and sewer infrastructure projects

• Strong background in civil construction with a focus on water and wastewater assets

• Proven experience managing subcontractors and complex site operations

• Strong understanding of QA systems, ITPs, and utility specifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and design documentation

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
